The post-credit scene for Terrifier 2 shows Art being born again after seemingly dying at the end of the movie. The original also initially led audiences to believe that Art was human, yet the ending of the first Terrifier did include rumblings of the supernatural nature of the character.

The character was created by writer and director Damien Leone for the 2013 anthology film "All Hallows' Eve" and later appeared in the standalone film "Terrifier." While the character may have been inspired by various elements of horror and clown archetypes, Art the Clown is not based on a real person.
