The ending reveals that Jill held onto a sixth envelope that contained a picture of Hoffman himself.❤️ Jill locks Hoffman into a (manipulated) new version of the Reverse Bear Trap and leaves him to die; he survives,❤️ but gets his right cheek shred in the process.

Hoffman is clearly a sociopath,❤️ as shown by how he continues to do traps after Jigsaw and Amanda's death when it is no longer necessary❤️ for no other reason than out of his own enjoyment. It is shown in Saw VI that he listens to❤️ the audio tapes of his victims suffering.
